I really don't want everyone to find out about this place, I want to keep it a secret all for myself, but I would be doing a great disservice to Ann and her wonderful Chateau Bavolier.

Firstly, we arrived up at Chateau Bavolier after a long, 18 hour overnight drive from the south of Spain. Ann greeted me like an old friend, brought us to our room and while we brought in the bags, she came back with a beautiful bottle of red for us, and a cold drink for the boys - she just knew what we needed, and when we needed it!

The room..the room, what can I say? The room..we had the Master Suite, which Ann had put two more beds in for the two boys. It was magnificent. The room was huge, with carpets you sink into, a gorgeous four poster bed, a white sofa, beautiful armoirs. A few steps lead up the bathroom...and the bathroom does not disappoint! It truly is a room with a view - you step up to the bath, and sink down into the bath, directly overlooking the garden.

The following morning, we had a great breakfast to set us up for another long drive, melon to start, eggs, toast, croissants, pain au choc, copious amounts of coffee and hot chocolate, fruit, yogurts. We wandered for a while that morning, walked around the grounds, sat in the lounge - everything to put off the moment when we had to leave.

Ann has done the most amazing job bringing this house to its full potential - it's a house that's been decorated with great care and attention to detail, and it's Ann herself that has brought the house to life.

What can I say - we have travelled the world with our boys, Europe, Asia and the US, - our 10 year old said it's a joint No. 1 with the hotel in Shanghai, and for myself and the 12 year old, it has become the outright number 1!

I can't hesitate to recommend Chateau Bavolier - it's just beautiful, elegant, peaceful, wonderful. I would go back in a heartbeat - in fact I'm trying to see if there's any way I can swing a weekend there sans enfants!!!

Room Tip: We had the Master Suite - magnificent.

Upon our arrival, Ann our host, opened the doors to the Chateau and welcomed us into a world that left all the stresses and strains of everyday life behind! A soft musical score greeted us and gently erased our fatigue as we sat on the terrace with our wine and let our eyes take it all in. Ann has restored the Chateau beautifully with the decor of each room lovingly and sympathetically chosen together with beautiful handpicked antiquities. The garden is meticulously cared for and we awakened the next morning refreshed and ready for a leisurely and very generous breakfast which was served by Ann in the beautiful dining room in fine dining style.

Over our 3 night stay and with a little help from our friend we explored Bordeaux taking in recommended restaurants, the Wine Expo, and enjoyed people watching in St. Emillion, managing to taste just a little of the fantastic wine the region has on offer. We spent two weeks in France in various locations. The hospitality we experienced at Chateau Bavolier outclassed all of our other chosen establishments. We will return as it is indeed a very special place to stay!

"Your own personal Chateau"Reviewed October 4, 2015

The welcome we received from Ann at Chateau Bavolier was tremendous, just what we needed after a long day riding in the heat - a welcome glass (or three) of fizz in the beautiful garden! The rooms were immaculate, and the whole chateau had a big 'wow' factor, particularly because we had it all to ourselves. The wifi was strong, the beds were comfy, the parking was secure, the surroundings were peaceful, the grounds were shabby-chic and the candle-lit dinner was well worth the money. I can't fault it. We had a fabulous stay.

Room Tip: The master suite is breath-takingly awesome, but the 'normal' room is pretty excellent too.

 “Fabulous!”5 of 5 starsReviewed August 11, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We stayed at Chateau Bavolier at the beginning of this month, August 2014. The Chateau is absolutely beautiful, straight out of a storybook. Ann's grandchildren greeted us with homemade gifts for our daughter and Ann greeted us with a bottle of Champagne. We felt at home immediately. To my daughter, Ann is "Nana." Ann and her family were so much fun! We had dinner the first night at the Chateau, which was wonderful. We followed Ann's suggestions for places to go and things to see, which were all perfect. We are so thankful we found this place!

Thanks Ann for a wonderful stay. We used Chateau Bavolier as a stopover for a couple of nights and it was perfect for us. Champagne on arrival with Ann and plenty of suggestions for places to eat/visit. The room was excellent and extremely large even with four of us in there. Massive garden with swings/slide for the kids to play on. Lovely breakfast! Thanks Ann, would recommend to anyone.

We stayed at Chateau Bavolier in 2010 and since we enjoyed it so much and we would be close, decided to stay again. Once again Anne gave us a wonderful welcome, we truly felt like old friends even though we had only stayed one night. We were able to have dinner in the Chateau....delicious and very enjoyable. The room is so spacious and beautifully decorated that you feel like royalty and breakfast was as good as we remembered. We shall definitely repeat if we are in the area.

Thank you so much for looking after us during our trip, we thoroughly enjoyed it and have had some great feedback from our customers who attended.  I am positive that we've found our home from home in France that we can hopefully use for years to come!
