We sit perfectly for all of your days out and exploring. Blaye is our nearest town and is just 10mins drive from the Chateau. It is full of historical interest and is also a Unesco World Heritage Site. The Medoc is approximately 35mins away via the ferry from Blaye. Saint Emilion another World Heritage Site is a 40mins drive. The Chateau is perfectly placed for everything you will want to see and do.
After leaving Bordeaux airport, take the second exit at the roundabout. At the next roundabout, take the third exit, which takes you over the motorway, then take the first right direction Paris, which bends round to join the motorway. Continue straight ahead for approximately 30Kms and take Exit 40a (signposted Sainte, Royan, Blaye D137) and take 3rd exit at roundabout. Continue straight ahead on D137 and at the fourth roundabout take the first exit, signposted St. Christoly de Blaye. Follow road into the village and at the stop sign turn right, then 30 meters turn left. Drive straight ahead for 900 meters and you will see the Chateau Entrance on your right.
If you decide to drive and come by ferry from England then Brittany Ferries and LD lines operate from Dover, Portsmouth, Newhaven, Poole, Weymouth or Plymouth. Journey times vary depending on which port in France you want to arrive in and which route you take.
If you are driving from North to South the quickest route would be on the A10. For the Chateau-Gite Rental Gironde Take Exit 38 which will take you off motorway to the toll booth. You are now approximately 15 minuets away and we suggest you use the co-ordinates we have provided. We have also included a link to google maps for you to make easy to find us.
Bordeaux Airport is approximately 40mins drive
Bergerac Airport is approximately 1hr 40mins
British Airways, Easyjet, Flybe and Ryanair fly daily from many airports in England to Bordeaux and Bergerac.
If you do decide to fly then it is essential to hire a car from the airport as the Chateau is rural and public transport is limited.
